Secretary Fontes Mourns Passing of Childhelp Co-Founder, Yvonne Fedderson
PHOENIX – As a board member of Childhelp, a national nonprofit dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse, Secretary of State Adrian Fontes expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Yvonne Fedderson, prominent philanthropist, retired actress, and co-founder of Childhelp who passed away on January 23, 2026 at the age of 90.
Born Yvonne Glee Lime in Glendale, California, on April 7, 1935, Fedderson began her career as an actress after graduating from the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse. Fedderson's most enduring legacy, however, was her lifelong commitment to serving vulnerable children. In 1959, alongside friend and co-star Sara O'Meara, she co-founded International Orphans, Inc., which later became Childhelp.
Secretary Fontes said, “Yvonne was a leader driven by her passion and love of others. Her commitment to child advocacy built Childhelp into a nationwide leader in prevention, intervention and treatment services. Mirroring her dedication and care, Childhelp now operates programs and services nationwide and has helped more than 14 million children and families affected by abuse and neglect.
Her memory will be a steadfast reminder that we all can do more to keep our communities safe and uplift those most in need. My wife and I will miss Yvonne dearly, we will continue to applaud her work in Arizona and across the country, and offer our love and prayers to all those mourning her passing.”
