State Library now accepting 2026 LSTA grant applications
PHOENIX – The Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records is now accepting applications from eligible Arizona libraries for Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grants to support innovative library projects in their communities. The awards are made possible with federal Library Services and Technology Act funding, which is distributed by the Institute of Museum and Library Services’ Grants to States program.
“Libraries are an essential pillar of Arizona communities. Through their services, they can increase accessibility to things such as books, reliable Wi-Fi and computer access, meeting spaces, literacy programs, and more," said Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. "I’m proud that my office is able to help libraries across the state continue to provide these crucial services through the LSTA grants.”
The State Library offers Express Grants of $5,000 in the following categories:
- Collections and Programing
- Staff Development Day
- Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending
- AI Training & Tools – new in 2026!
The State Library also offers grants for up to $7,500 for Writers in Residence programs, as well as larger General Grants of variable amounts that support projects related to information preservation and access, informal education, institutional improvements, and inclusive communities.
All applications are due by April 10, 2026. Subject to the availability of federal funding, the awards will be announced on May 15.
In fiscal year 2025, the State Library awarded $929,640.70 in grants for 71 library projects in 10 Arizona counties. Included in those awards were seven grants to support programming related to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
