The public is invited to behind-the-scenes tours of the State of Arizona Research Library and the Arizona State Archives during National Library Week.

These guided tours will showcase materials from the extensive Research Library and Archives collections and share details of how Arizona’s rich history is collected, preserved, and accessed. Attendees will visit the Reading Room, where researchers access materials from the Research Library and Archives collections by appointment. They will also be introduced to the Research Library's digital collections, including the Arizona Memory Project and Reading Arizona eBooks and audiobooks.

“The mission of the Arizona State Library is to provide Arizonans access to information about their government, their state, and their world by offering content in a variety of formats, preserving Arizona's history for future generations, and empowering local institutions to engage their communities in learning,” said Secretary of State Adrian Fontes. “I encourage all Arizonans to participate in a public tour to see first-hand the important work taking place there. You will gain an appreciation for the expertise and dedication of the librarians, archivists, and other staff who work hard every day to preserve and provide access to Arizona’s history.”

Tours will be offered at 10 am and 3 pm on Tuesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 23, at the Polly Rosenbaum State Archives and History Building. Availability is limited and registration is required.
