Results Certified for CD7 Special Election General Canvass
PHOENIX – The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office today announced the completion of the official canvass for the Congressional District 7 special general election held on September 23, 2025. With all county-level canvasses concluded, the results are now certified and ready for formal transmission to the clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives.
In accordance with Arizona law, Governor Katie Hobbs and Attorney General Kris Mayes joined Secretary of State Adrian Fontes to certify the districtwide canvass, marking the formal conclusion of the election.
In a statement, Secretary Fontes thanked election officials and poll workers across the six participating counties and highlighted the role that mail-in voting played in enhancing accessibility and confidence in the process.
“The certification of the District 7 canvass marks another important milestone in delivering transparent and accountable elections to Arizonans,” Secretary Adrian Fontes said. “Voters clearly continue to embrace mail-in voting as a secure, convenient, and reliable way to participate in our democracy.”
Voters Embrace Mail-In Option
Across CD7, a substantial share of ballots were cast via mail or early mail ballot mechanisms, underscoring the enduring popularity of vote-by-mail among Arizona voters. Election administrators pointed to robust processing controls, signature verification, and tracking systems that ensure every valid mailed ballot is counted.
One such system is TrackMyBallot, Arizona’s text and email-based early ballot tracking service. Secretary Fontes expanded TrackMyBallot statewide in 2024, and the service was again offered to voters during the 2025 special election, providing real-time status updates and boosting voter confidence in the mail-in process.
Secretary Fontes added, “Mail-in voting is not just growing in preference — it is part of the backbone of our election system. Our goal is to make it easier for all eligible Arizonans to cast their vote, with confidence in the integrity of their ballots.”
Certified Results Overview

The canvass process included review and reconciliation of provisional ballots, signature cures, and any late-early ballots eligible under state law. Counties submitted their certified counts to the Secretary of State’s Office, which then aggregated and validated totals in accordance with Arizona election statutes.
Once the Secretary of State issues the certificate of election, the winning candidate will be formally declared eligible to assume the seat for the remainder of the term.
