Group files paperwork for referendums on SB1070, HB2162
To be proposed to Arizona voters if group collects necessary signatures
PHOENIX – A citizens group has filed paperwork for referendums on Senate Bill 1070 and an accompanying measure, House Bill 2162. Both measures relate to illegal immigration and were signed into law in recent months.
In order for the referendums to appear on the Arizona ballot, the group must collect and submit to the Secretary of State's Office at least 76,682 valid signatures of Arizona voters. The deadline for submittal is July 28, which is 90 days following the close of the legislative session and a day prior to when SB1070 and HB2162 are slated to take effect.
