Michele Reagan, now serving her second year as Arizona’s secretary of state, gets our vote for most stylish public servant.
As Arizona’s secretary of state, Michele Reagan wears many hats. Luckily, she also has the shoes and handbags to match. “My home district was Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. When my husband would complain about me spending so much [on fashion], I would tell him there’s no excuse for not representing my district at the highest standard.” she jokes.
Though she travels most days, occasionally Reagan can be spotted downtown, donning a brightly colored jacket and pumps with personality amid a sea of gray and navy. “I do add some fun and pizzazz to the Capitol,” she asserts. “If I could wear Kate Spade by day and Carolina Herrera by night, I’d be quite happy.”
Reagan spends little time shopping since she dedicates most of her hours overseeing four divisions, including Elections, which administers ballots and certifies results. In a year with four scheduled elections—the first, a presidential primary, will be held March 22—she has a lot of ground to cover, hosting town halls and attending state meetings while serving as a board member for Worldly Kids, a local nonprofit that aids schools in need.
Wherever she goes, Reagan makes a statement
—but this might be her best yet: “I’m confident, and I’m not afraid to dress confidently.”
