Secretary of State’s Office releases cybersecurity handbook for candidates and political entities

PHOENIX – With the Presidential Preference Election just three months away, the Secretary of State’s Office is offering a helpful resource for counties, candidates and political entities.
The office has released a cybersecurity handbook offering tips on how to:
- Protect social media accounts and websites
- Avoid becoming victim to phishing attacks
- Secure mobile devices
- Respond in the case of a cyber incident
The handbook is available to view and download here: http://go.azsos.gov/lngk
“Election officials, candidates and political organizations have become high-value targets for those looking to disrupt the election process,” Secretary Katie Hobbs said. “This handbook provides tips on how to keep your information and accounts safe.”
This handbook was distributed to all 15 counties in Arizona during the Secretary of State’s Election Security Table Top Exercise and Policy Academy on Cybersecurity earlier this month, in coordination with the National Governor’s Association.
“We are working with national, state and local officials to ensure that our elections are secure and voters get accurate election information,” Hobbs said.
