Secretary of State Fontes Highlights Sept. 1 Deadline for Parties to Opt-Out from Presidential Preference Election
PHOENIX -Secretary of State Adrian Fontes sent letters today to the chairpersons of the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian parties reminding them that they have until Friday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. to send notice to his office that their party will opt-out of Arizona’s 2024 Presidential Preference Election.
Secretary Fontes said: “This important deadline has been established to give Arizona’s counties the advance notice they require to run fair, accurate, and secure elections. As the top election administrator for the state, it is my responsibility to ensure that deadlines are being met, and that our county election officials have the time they need to serve all eligible voters.”
The No Labels Party sent notice to the Secretary of State’s office on Aug. 11 that it would not participate in Arizona’s Presidential Preference Election, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Letters sent today to the chairpersons of the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian parties are included below.
