Preparing to File 2022 Clean Elections Participating Candidates
Clean Elections Participating Candidates may file their nomination paperwork starting on January 3, 2022.* These filings must include the Application for Funding, Qualifying Contributions, list of Qualifying Contributions, and nomination paperwork (petitions, nomination paper, and FDS). Traditionally funded candidates may begin filing on March 7, 2022. Please use our 2022 Filing Checklist to ensure you are prepared for your filing.
*The filing window opens on Saturday January 1, 2022. Our Office will be open for in-person filings starting at 8:00 am Monday January 3, 2022.
Methods to File
- By Appointment
A candidate may request an appointment to file through the online scheduler, Bookings. The appointment can be scheduled through our website. Appointments can be scheduled with 24-hour notice and up to 30 days in advance. The Secretary of State’s Office reserves the right to cancel an appointment. If this happens, we will communicate with the affected candidate as soon as possible and work to reschedule the appointment.
Walk-ins will be accepted after all candidates with appointments have completed their filings.
- By Drop Box
A drop box will be available at 1700 W. Washington St. Phoenix, AZ 85007, on the 7th floor from January 3 through March 4. Beginning on March 7, candidates can find the drop box in the lobby of the first floor. The drop box can be accessed during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The drop box will be checked throughout the day. Filings must be in the drop box by 5:00 p.m. on April 4, 2022, to meet the deadline.. After processing in-person filings, we will process all remaining filings in the order in which they are received.

All filings sent by mail must be received by our Office by April 4, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. After processing in-person filings, we will process all remaining filings in the order in which they are received. You will be contacted by email with an intake receipt when we begin processing your filing and will receive an email with the final receipt once we finish processing the documents. Mail documents to:
