Secretary Fontes Applauds FY26 Bipartisan Budget, Investments in Election Integrity Initiatives
PHOENIX – Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes today commended Governor Hobbs and the Arizona Legislature for approving a bipartisan state budget that prioritizes election security, voter registration, and important public programs managed by the Secretary of State’s Office.
“This budget demonstrates Arizona’s ongoing commitment to safe, fair, and secure elections,” said Secretary Fontes. “The investments in our voter registration system and special election funding ensure our democracy remains resilient and accessible for every Arizonan.”
The FY26 budget fully funds Arizona’s voter registration system (AVID), including the critical county share reimbursement, providing essential support for statewide election integrity. Additionally, the allocation for the upcoming Congressional District 7 special election will guarantee secure and effective election operations. The budget also secures one-year funding for the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), ensuring uninterrupted protection for Arizonans facing threats to their safety.
While the budget does not include funding for the Arizona America250 Commission, the Secretary of State’s Office remains committed to commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Efforts to raise funds through private partnerships and sponsorships will continue, and the Legislature’s recent approval of a new America250 license plate offers an exciting opportunity to generate additional public support and revenue for these statewide celebrations.
The Secretary of State’s Office remains optimistic about continued bipartisan collaboration and is committed to working closely with legislative and executive partners to further strengthen Arizona’s election infrastructure and public services for all Arizonans.
