Arizona America250 Launches “Operation Freedom March”
Uniting Arizona’s Veterans on the 800-Mile Arizona Trail
HEREFORD, Ariz. – The Arizona America250 Commission is proud to announce the launch of Operation Freedom March, a statewide campaign inviting service members, military Veterans, their families, and supporters to participate in a coordinated effort to complete all 800 miles of the Arizona National Scenic Trail over the course of one year. Starting on Independence Day, July 4, 2025, and culminating on July 4, 2026, in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
This initiative will commemorate the nation’s Semiquincentennial, led by the Arizona Trail Veterans Program, in partnership with the Arizona Trail Association and the Arizona America250 Commission.
Participants are invited to hike, run, ride, or roll any section of the Arizona Trail between July 4, 2025 and July 4, 2026. The goal: collectively complete the full 800-mile trail, mile by mile, as a united force.
Mission Objectives:
- Engage the Ranks: Involve at least 250 members of Arizona’s military community through coordinated trail segments and special VETS Program events.
- Allied Forces Welcome: Families, friends, and civilians are encouraged to join and form “units” modeled after squad-based teams.
- Support the Mission: Registration fees and sponsorships will support the Arizona Trail Association’s Veterans Engagement and Trail Stewardship (VETS) Program, helping preserve the trail and connect veterans with therapeutic outdoor experiences.
