Friday, July 3, 2020

PHOENIX – The last day to register to vote to participate in the 2020 Primary Election is Monday, July 6. To register to vote in Arizona, a voter must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a resident of Arizona and the county listed on your registration
  • Be 18 years of age or older on or before the day of the next regular General Election

July 6, 2020 is also the deadline for voters who need to update their voter registration if they:

  • Have recently moved to a new address
  • Legally changed their name
  • Would like to change their political party affiliation

Those with an Arizona Driver License and/or an Arizona non-operating I.D. card issued by the Motor Vehicle Division may register or update their voter registration online at ServiceArizona.com.

A voter registration form is available here: http://go.azsos.gov/kg23. The form may be printed, filled out, signed and returned to the corresponding county recorder’s office. Large-print voter registration forms are available at https://azsos.gov/elections/voting-election.

A contact list for all county election officials is available at https://azsos.gov/county-election-info.

“Independents can participate in the August Primary Election without having to change their political party affiliation,” Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said. “Independent voters who wish to vote by mail will need to request their ballot type with their county recorder.”

Those registering to vote can sign up for the Permanent Early Voting List by answering “yes” to the PEVL question on the voter registration form or at ServiceArizona.com. Registered voters who are not already on the PEVL can visit www.azsos.gov/votebymail to learn how to request a ballot-by-mail.

“Voting by mail will help minimize direct contact with others and will help reduce crowd size at polling places,” Hobbs said. “Voters are encouraged to request a ballot-by-mail to ensure that they have a safe and secure option for voting in this year’s elections.”

Election Day is Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
