PHOENIX – The Office of the Arizona Secretary of State is now accepting applications for the NASS John Lewis Youth Leadership Award 2026.

Established in 2021 by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), the award recognizes the extraordinary accomplishments of the late U.S. Congressman John Lewis—a Civil Rights Movement icon, Freedom Rider, and 33‑year U.S. Representative. This award recognizes young leaders who demonstrate a commitment to civic engagement, leadership, and service in their communities.

“Young people are shaping the future of Arizona every day through service, leadership, and civic engagement,” Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes stated. “The John Lewis Youth Leadership Award recognizes outstanding young leaders who are making a difference in their communities and inspires others to follow their example. I encourage eligible students from across our state to apply for this meaningful opportunity and I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments.”

Application Deadline: November 19, 2026, at 5:00 PM (Arizona Time)
A panel of Arizona election officials will review the applications and announce the recipient at a later date (TBD).
