Phoenix, AZ— Effective today, the White House notified the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) that all three serving Commissioners were relieved of their positions. Secretary of State Adrian Fontes released the following statement:

"The U.S. EAC is an independent, bipartisan commission tasked with helping election officials improve the administration of elections and help Americans participate in the voting process.  It is irresponsible and dangerous that this Administration remains dead set on causing chaos for our election officials across this country. This move undermines the integrity of nonpartisan election administration.

America's democracy is resilient. In this moment, as elections officials, we must remain steadfast in our work to ensure every eligible voter has the access to cast their vote with security and peace of mind—no matter the obstacles being placed in our way.

I want to personally extend my sincere thanks to the Commissioners that were targeted today. America's voters are better because of your service, and your work will have a lasting impact."
